The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London (import mark) 1908 with a supplier’s mark of A&N CSL for Army & Navy Cooperative Society Ltd. The A&N CSL were in business from 1871 to 1934. It was formed by a group of army and navy officers for the supply of articles of domestic consumption and general use to its members at the lowest remunerative rates.

The half hunter case is quite unusual in its design as it has engine turned detail to both the front and back. The front also has black enamelled Roman numerals surrounding the small glass lens.
The front cover opens with the aid of a thumbnail to reveal more hallmarks inside. The white dial is in beautiful condition with gold coloured hour and minutes hand … note the special half hunter hour hand which means that the user can tell which hand is which, and subsequently the time, without having to open the front cover. The hands are initially set by way of the pin set mechanism.
