Worboys Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The large,colourful 16 inch dial has seasons of the year corner paintings and a moon roller disc within the arch that rotates over a lunar cycle to reveal a maritime scene or rural cottage scene. The dial is signed by the Maker James Winterbottom of Oldham. The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell.
