Antique Silver Buren Pocket Watch, 1918

1900 - 1920
Description

Antique silver Buren pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, with seven jewels, which is working nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes or so over 24 hours. The movement is signed Buren and it is protected by an inner hinged dust cover.

The pocket watch measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The outer watch case is silver and is hallmarked for London (import mark), 1918, with an importer’s mark for William Henry Sparrow. The case has general unevenness and indentations; it looks like it has been well loved and used.

The watch glass has a 4mm scratch and a little light marking but overall is very acceptable.

The white enamel dial has a couple of faint, short hairline cracks, barely noticeable to the naked eye.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
