Gents 9ct Gold Vertex Gents Wrist Watch, 1931

1920 - 1940
Description

A gents early 1930s 9 carat gold Vertex wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, signed Vertex, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one to two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 31mm wide excluding the winding crown and 31mm high excluding the lugs. It is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1931, with a maker's mark for the English watch case maker A L Dennison. The case has light surface marks but overall is in good condition. The case back has been engraved with an inscription from Lever Brothers. The winding crown is a later replacement.

The lens has some light scratches.

The enamel dial has Arabic numbers (originally they would have been painted), a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There are some hairline cracks to the dial.

A later black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
