The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The movement is signed American, Waltham, U.S.A. Traveler and it has the serial number 17223476 which dates it back to 1908.

The watch measures 50.3 mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is stamped Moon trade mark, Dennison Watch Case Co Ltd. English make Guaranteed to be made of two plates of 10ct gold with plate of composition between and to wear 20 years. The case has light surface marks from use and light wear to the sides but otherwise it is in nice condition. The inner dust cover has a later inscription :- Presented to Mr J.Grieveson (manager) by the employees of Clarke & Brown's. Foundry steel works, Penshaw. as a token of esteem, Dec 17 1920.

The watch lens is plastic and is in nice condition with only the odd minor mark.
The dial is signed Waltham. The dial has a couple of faint hairline cracks to the outer edge although hardly noticeable but otherwise it is in nice condition.
The watch has its original blued steel hands.
