Antique 9ct Gold J W Benson Trench Watch, 1938

1920 - 1940
Description

A gents antique 9ct gold J W Benson wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which is working nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one or two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for Birmingham 1938, with a maker's mark for Aaron Dennison, the English watch case maker. There is a little gentle unevenness to the case back but overall the case is in nice condition. The lens has a couple of light scratches, not very noticeable to the naked eye.

The watch has a white enamel dial signed J W Benson, London, with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A later black leather strap has been fitted.
