9ct Gold Wrist Watch, 1950

1940 - 1960
Description

A 1950 9ct gold wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 30mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. Although originally designed to be worn by a man, it would suit a slimmer wrist or it could be worn by a lady. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1950 with a maker's mark for the English watch case maker Dennison. The front of the case has minor marks. The screw-on case back has some scratches.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Majex, 17 Jewels but the writing has faded and is now very faint. There is some discolouration to the dial but overall it has a good vintage look. Feuille shaped hands, subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
