Antique Dreadnought Pocket Watch, Muir & Sons, Glasgow

1900 - 1920
Description

An antique Dreadnought pocket watch originally retailed by Muir & Sons of Glasgow, circa 1910/20s.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, with 17 jewels, which is ticking away and the time keeping is good to around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Dreadnought, and it is covered by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The gold plated case is the Moon model by the English watch case maker Dennison. The case has a few marks to the back but overall the condition is acceptable for an antique watch.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is signed Muir & Sons, Glasgow. It is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
