Vintage Silver Record Pocket Watch & Chain

A vintage silver presentation pocket watch by Record and silver double pocket watch chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around three to four minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Record. It is protected by an inner hinged dust cover which has been engraved and reads, "Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd, Presented to T Ward, for 20 years' service, 1950".

The watch measures just over 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and both of the back covers are hallmarked for Birmingham 1946, with a maker's mark for the English watch case maker Dennison. The case is in very good condition with engine turned detail and a vacant cartouche to the back.

The watch glass is in good order.

The white enamel dial has some faint hairline cracks but not too obvious to the naked eye. Blued steel Breguet style hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a silver double watch chain which is probably from the early 1900s. Each of the links has the lion passant silver mark. The silver fob has rose gold wash to the front (although some has worn off over the years). The wording around the perimeter reads, "ICI (Alkali) Ambulance Eliminating Competition" and the fob is also engraved on the reverse.
