Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The ebonised case features 4 cast brass finials; cast brass handle; ornate ormolu panels to the sides and it is raised on original brass feet with an unusual and attractive matching brass-cased plinth base.
Signed to the dial, with "Strike/Silent" in the arch; date aperture and "mock" pendulum. Dimensions: 18.5ins (47cms) high excluding the handle. Perfect working order and guaranteed for at least two years.
