Gents 1940s Smiths Wrist Watch, Made in England

Description

A gents 1940s Smiths wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away happily and the time keeping is good to within around one to two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is stamped Made in England. It appears that the balance has been replaced at some stage in its life, although it is the correct balance for the movement.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is in good condition for its age with just general light surface marks, nothing serious at all.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Smiths, Made in England. There are minor marks but it is very acceptable for a 1940s piece. The minute hand is a later replacement.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.
