Gents Ww1 9ct Gold Trench Watch, 1915

A gents WW1 9ct gold trench watch.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London (import mark), 1915 with an importer's mark for George Stockwell. George Stockwell & Co were carriers and shipping agents who also handled customs clearance on behalf of their customers. From June 1907, they also acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which were then required to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK asssay office before being released for sale. This particular case is in very nice condition.

The lens is also in good condition.

The enamel dial has luminous Arabic numerals (the luminous detail is bright and has probably been re-painted at some stage). There are some faint hairline cracks to the dial. Nice skeletal hands, subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute marker.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.
