The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The movement is protected by an inner dust cover which has a presentation engraving, 'Presented to W Foster by his workmates on his retirement from the BBC, August 1939'.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1936, with a maker's mark for the prolific English watch case maker A L Dennison. The case has engine turned detail to the case back with a central vacant cartouche. The case is in very nice condition.
The watch lens has a ½cm scratch but otherwise looks good.
The dial is enamel and is in very good condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
