The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The movement is signed Elgin Natl Watch Co and it has the serial number 16,873,676 which dates it back to 1912. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case was made by the prolific English watch case maker A L Dennison; often the movements were imported to the UK to be cased and sold to retailers. There are some marks to the case just from use but overall the condition is very acceptable for such an early piece.

The small lens to the front cover is plastic; it is in good condition.
The winding crown pushes to release the front cover to reveal a plastic lens (with minor marking) and an enamel dial signed Elgin.
