1890 George Aaronson Fusee Pocket Watch & Chain

A late Victorian heavy duty silver pocket watch by the Manchester watchmaker George Aaronson.

The watch has a fusee movement (chain driven) which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Geo Aaronson, Manchester and there is also a serial number. A winding key will be included. The movement should be covered by an inner cover but this has gone missing over the years.

The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop so it is slightly bigger than average pocket watches. The case is silver and both of the back covers are hallmarked for London 1890 with a maker's mark for the case maker James Oliver who was based in Clerkenwell in London. The case is in good condition for its age with just the odd minor mark and general surface marks. Engine turned detail and a vacant central cartouche to the case back.

The watch glass is in lovely condition.

The enamel dial is in good order and has bold black Roman numerals, substantial hour and minute hands and a subsidiary seconds dial.

The watch comes with a white metal chain which measures 26.5cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
