Possibly one of the finest clocks we had ever had the pleasure of offering for sale. Museum quality.
It stands a magnificant 28" tall and is 16" wide and 11" deep. It is certainly not for the feint hearted but will impress everyone who sees it.
The walnut case retains it's original French-polished finish and the caryatids, phinials etc are all pristine quality gilt brass, as are the beautiful sound fret panels to each side of the clock and the 4 eagle claw feet on which the clock stands.
The arched, opening front door has bevelled glass.
It has subsiduary "RISE & FALL" and "STRIKE/SILENT" dials.
The 3 train, 8 day movement strikes the Westminster tune on the quarters and the hours. It strikes on seperate heavy blued steel gongs and has a wonderful resonating sound. It has just been fully serviced by our BHI registered staff.
The clock is fitted with a repeat pull cord which most unusually repeats not just the hour but the previous quarter too.
The clock was made by REINHOLD SCHNEKENBURGER in around 1880 and is a true testament to this makers high reputation.
