1920s New York Standard Watch Co Pocket Watch

Description

A 1920s heavy duty pocket watch from NY Standard Watch Co.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one minute over 24 hours. The movement is signed New York Standard Watch Co, USA and it has the serial number 3,968,857.

The watch measures 57mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The 'silverode' case was made by the Philadelphia Watch Case Co - silverode was a nickel composition material used in watch cases and the various watch case manufacturers had different names such as 'silveroid', 'silverus' and 'silverine'. The case is in good condition for its age with just minor marking.

The watch glass has a deep bevelled edge which gives it a solid appearance. There is a thin scratch to the glass, about 1.5cm long.

The dial is signed NY Standard Watch Co, USA. It has a good vintage look with blued steel hands, subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
