Nice 18th Cent Oak, 8 Day Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

Here we have a very nice, small, 18th Cent Longcase clock by Thomas Wood of Dorchester, Dorset. He is listed as working there from the late 18th Cent.

The case is in oak with mahogany cross banding to the trunk door and base. At the top of the hood is an attractive band of fretwork.

The good quality, 8 day, five pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a very attractive brass dial with gilt brass spandrels, silvered chapter ring and matted centre. It also has a subsidiary seconds dial and working date indicator.

Both case and movement are in excellent condition and it is keeping good time.

The maximum dimensions are:

198cm (78") high

49.5cm (19.5") wide

27cm (10.5") deep

Free local deliver and set up (75mls), national and international delivery arranged.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
