Vintage 1926 Elgin Pocket Watch with Chain

1900 - 1920
Description

A vintage 1920s Elgin pocket watch in superb condition with chain and fob.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good. The movement is signed Elgin Natl Watch Co, USA, Seven Jewels and it has the serial number 28534382 which dates it back to 1926. The movement is protected by an inner hinged dust cover.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is rose gold filled and it is in beautiful condition with engine turned detail to the case back, and a central vacant cartouche.

The watch lens is in lovely condition too.

The enamel dial, signed Elgin, looks very nice to the naked eye. If viewed through a magnifying loupe, you can just see a short hairline crack. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes on a rolled rose gold chain, 19cm long including the T-bar and the clasp, and an English St Christopher fob, which has some marking mainly to the back.
