A Fine Regency Mahogany Grandfather Clock

19th century
Description

A lovely Regency mahogany long-case clock by JACOB LEVY of TRURO. A typical slim and refined case one would expect from this elegant era. Made from choice flame mahogany with rosewood crossbanding, it retains it's original French-polished finish and has a lovely warm, rich patina. It has a full length door and spiral turned pillars to the trunk and the hood.

The 8 day movement has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff. It strikes the hours on a bell with a lovely crisp tone.

The painted arched dial has black Roman numerals and a river scene to the arch. It is signed " Jacob Levy. Truro." He is recorded as working in Truro 1822-1847.

A very fine clock.

Dimensions:

Height 85" (216cm)

Width (max) 21" ( 53cm)

Depth 10" ( 26cm)

Trunk 14" X 8" (36x20cm)
