Mid-victorian 8-Day Skeleton Clock

Description

A.BOWELL of CROYDON**: a good mid-Victorian eight-day SKELETON CLOCK in fine condition and in full working order.

The chain-driven fusee movement features 5-spoke wheels throughout, with "Passing Strike" ~ a single blow being struck each hour. It is signed by the maker and also features an engraved presentation plaque dated 1873.

**Alfred Bowell is recorded working in Croydon, Surrey "circa" 1878, though the presentation plaque dates this clock slightly earlier.
