Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
W&H movements are of very high quality and universally recognised.

The clock strikes on the half-hour and the hour with a beautiful crisp resonnating tone.
The 12" dial has black Roman numerals and is signed "A BAMBER. PRESTON". He is recorded as working in Preston(lanca) between 1851-1858.

The brass pendulum can be seen working through a glazed opening to the lower half of the case.
The case retains it's original French-polished finish and has a lovely, deep, rich patina. It has an opening door to the side of the backbox and one to the base also.
