French Boulle Mantel Clock

Description

A pleasure to offer for sale this beautifull tortoise-shell/brass inlaid mantel clock.

It stands a magnificant 15" tall by 8" wide, surrmounted by a gilt bronze eagle and gilt bronze adornments to the waisted case.

The 4" dial has an enamelled centre and blue, enamelled cartouche numerals with very fine cut hands. It is signed "Payne & Co. Paris" and is totally free from any cracks, chips or crazing.

The 8 day movement strikes on the half-hours and the hours on a bell with a beautiful crisp tone. It has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff. The brasswork has been lacquered to prevent tarnishing.
