The eight-day movement retains its original verge escapement, with engraved backplate and a dial that incorporates a mock pendulum; date aperture and "Strike/Silent" control to the arch.
Striking hours on a bell, this clock is engraved with the signature of the maker to both dial and backplate. 19ins (48cms) high excluding handle. Guaranteed at least two years.
John FLADGATE was apprenticed in 1743 and died in 1781. Clocks by him can be found in the British Museum and in the V & A Museum in South Kensington.
