Gents 1960 Omega Hand-winding Wrist Watch

A gents gold plated Omega wrist watch.

The watch has a calibre 285 hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good. The movement is signed Omega Watch Co, Swiss and it has the serial number 17,816,039 which dates it back to 1960.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is gold plated and the condition is good; there is some wear to the plate on the tips of the lugs although it is not immediately obvious to the naked eye. There is more wear to the plate on the backs of the lugs. The winding crown is a later non-Omega replacement. The stainless steel case back has the Omega triangular stamp inside together with the case reference 14714-4-SC which is correct for the calibre 285 movement so we can be happy that everything is as it should be.

The lens is in good condition with just a couple of tiny marks which are really not very noticeable.

The dial has the applied Omega logo and is also signed Omega. It has faceted number markers, gold coloured hands and a centre seconds hand. There is some age related discolouration but it is all very acceptable.

A later brown leather strap has been fitted with an after market Omega buckle.
