Vintage 1926 Niello Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

A 1920s silver pocket watch.

The watch has a nice quality Swiss stem-winding movement, 15 jewels, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good.

The watch measures 47mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for Edinburgh (import mark), 1926. The back of the watch has niello detail; niello is a black mixture of copper, silver, and lead sulphides. The case is in good condition with just the odd minor mark.

The plastic lens is in good condition.

The textured dial has a lovely look with Art Deco stylised numbers picked out in gold, Breguet style hands and a subsidiary seconds dial. There is a little marking to the dial.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
