A Very Good Regency Bracket Clock

Description

Alexander Purvis of LONDON**: a pretty and totally original Regency period mahogany BRACKET CLOCK of compact proportions.

The CASE is of well figured solid mahogany with original finial; gadroon carved gabled top; carved 'fans' to the front; shaped door; brass ring side handles; gilt fish-scale side panels and supported on original squat bun feet.

The 8-day twin-fusee MOVEMENT is of beautiful quality, striking hours on a bell with a finely engraved and silvered dial featuring "Strike/Silent" control in the arch. Original hands and signed both to the dial and engraved on the backplate. Perfect working order.

**Alexander Purvis is recorded working in North Audley Street (Mayfair) London 1825-1842.
