Good 18th Cent Lacquer Longcase Clock

18th century
Description

An impressive 18th Cent Lacquer cased clock in good original "country house" condition.

The case has retained its original lacquer and gilt decoration that is now nicely aged. It has had no major restoration and has even still got its original double plinth to the base. There is a small crack to the hood glass but as the glass looks to be original I have left it as it is.

The good quality 5 pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a very smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring and gilt spandrels. It also has the all important strike/silent selector to the arch.

These clocks are usually London made and judging by the movement this is probably the case here, however unfortunately the name plate from the dial is missing.

The maximum dimensions are:

252cm(99") high including top finial

49cm(19") wide

24cm(9.5") deep

Free local delivery and set up (75mls), national and international delivery arranged.

Declaration

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
