Victorian Gilt Bronze Nautical Desk Clock Howell James & Co 1866

Description

We are delighted to offer this fine quality gilt bronze desk clock in the form of a ships wheel, the clock is made and designed by Howell James & Co Makers to the Queen , the wheel lower front is inscribed as follows :

November 2nd 1866 from A.G.B.C (Boat Club ?)there are also further initials on the four lower spokes , a delightful gift for a keen mariner !

The condition of the gilt frame is fine with only the age related wear and tear to be expected, however the silvered dial is very grubby and the movement itself is not working and the balance wheel wire is broken, we therefore are only selling as decorative or for repair .
