Description

wonderful oak brass face longcase clock by cuthbert darnton, chester who is listed in the clockmakers guide as being in business between 1753 - 1770.

the brass face with silvered dial, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, engraved with decorative detail.

the lovely slim case with unusual figuring to the grain has a cross banded arched door, blind fret carved canted corners, inlay decoration to the base and flat hood with dentil moulding and columns.

the eight day movement which has just been fully serviced, strikes the hour on a bell.

this charming clock of neat proportions is in good condition, the minor losses to the dentil moulding will be fully restored, there are normal marks etc. commensurate with use but nothing to detract from how nice this clock really is.
