London Made, Twin Fusee, Drop-dial Wall Clock.

19th century
Description

Now, there are clocks and then there are clocks. And clocks like this one don't come along very often.

Made by top London maker, UPJOHN & BRIGHT of 5, King William St.,The Strand, London, they are recorded as working from 1823 to 1863 (and beyond).

The twin fusee, 8 day movement strikes on a bell on the hours and has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff. Striking wall clocks are few and far between and hence much saught after.

The mahogany case is suberbly constucted from the finest quality timber. It has a chisel shaped base to the backbox with drop down, key lockable door, side inspection door, and sound fret to the top.

It has a very attractive narrow surround to the dial.

A heavy, cast brass bezel with bevelled glass.

The off-white dial appears to be un-restored from new, with black, Roman numerals and blued steel hands.

It is a pleasure to be able to offer such an original clock for sale.

Declaration

Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
