An English Floor Standing Regulator

19th century
Description

An English Mahogany cased floor standing regulator clock, having good proportions with architectural style. The substantial 8 day movement with dead beat escapement and maintaining power is housed within a glass and Mahogany case, the 11 Inch dial unsigned and retaining the original untouched paintwork, the clock complete with the original mercury compensated pendulum.

The front plate is now fitted with electrical timing contacts open and closed by a cam fitted to the escape wheel arbor, the hole at 12 o'clock to the dial is probably related to this modification/addition but its exact purpose is unknown.
