18th Cent Longcase Clock, Mark Metcalf Yorkshire

18th century
Description

An interesting mid 18th cent country longcase clock by Mark Metcalf of Askrigg, Yorkshire. The elegant slim case is in pine grained to look like oak (later re-decorated).

It has a 30hr single handed movement with a smart 10" brass dial with silvered chapter ring and gilt brass spandrels. It has a date aperture but this is now fixed and not operating. There has also been a repair to the dial, however this is behind one of the spandrels and is not visible.

The movement looks to have recently been serviced and is in good working order.

The maximum dimensions are:

205cm(81") high

50cm(20") wide

28cm(11") deep

Free local delivery and set up (60mls), national and international delivery arranged.

Declaration

Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
