18th Cent Oak Moon Dial Longcase Clock

18th century
Description

A good 18th Cent longcase clock by William Davies of Chester. The case is in oak with mahogany cross banding to the trunk and hood doors and the base.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a most attractive brass dial that displays the phases of the moon in the arch.

The case is in excellent condition and the movement is in full working order and looks to have recently been overhauled.

This clock was previously sold by Brian Loomes and has his invoice and description of the clock attached inside the trunk door. Brian Loomes has written many books on longcase clocks and is the author of the standard reference book "Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World"

It was sold in 1986 for £2350.00 so now represents excellent value.

The maximum dimensions are:

61cm(24") wide

28cm(11") deep

Local delivery (75mls) and set-up is included in the price. National and international delivery can be arranged at cost.
