Fine Decorative French Mantle Clock

Description

A charming and unusual mid/late 19th century French gilt spelter MANTLE CLOCK in full working order.

The case is unusual in that it features a boy at the helm of a small sailing boat, hand on the tiller with mast, sail, anchor and boat hook, whilst the base is set with waves and various other marine/military motifs.

The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell and the dial numerals are of individual enamel plaques. It is signed: JAPY FRERES, Paris, and is guaranteed for at least two years.
