Early 19th Century English Bracket Clock

Description

A good quality early 19th century eight-day BRACKET CLOCK in full working order. The typical ebonised case is surmounted with a gilded and cast brass carrying handle, and features "Gothic" style gilded brass side panels; inlaid brass to the leading corners; further brass inset around the front door glass and it is supported on cast brass ball feet.

The eight-day movement strikes hours on a bell with "Strike/Silent" in the arch of the original painted dial; the signature: P.G. Dodds, 79 Cornhill, LONDON*, also being engraved on the backplate and it retains its original gilded hands.

Perfect working order and guaranteed for at least two years.

*P.G. Dodds of 79, Cornhill, London is recorded as being apprenticed in 1816.
