Clock Fine Quality Mahogany Longcase Clock Brockbanks Regulator London C1820

Here we have a very fine quality Mahogany Brockbanks of London longcase regulator c1820. This clock was valued as recent as 2008 by Carolyn Moore from Christies on behalf of Jamie Collingridge with an auction estimate of £20,000 - £30,000. It was suggested that it went to sale alonside other clocks of comparable quality in the 1st July sale 2008 which had three Thomas Tompion clocks in it. I have the paperwork for this. Fortunately this clock never went to auction and is now in my possession via descendants of the family in ownership in 2008 and for many generations previous. This fresh to the market clock was also valued by Woolley and Wallis at between £25,000 - £35,000 again I have the paperwork for this.

This early 19th century 8 day domestic regulator by Brockbanks of London has a drum headed hood with brass fish scale sound frets. It is surmounted by a facetted pediment with a superb carved pineapple finial. Either side are delicious scrolling and reeded rosette mounts. There is a break fronted long trunk door with Ebony strung detail leading to a break fronted base which also has wonderful scrolling and reeded rosettes details. The 13 3/4 inch silvered dial has engraved Roman numerals with outside minute track and enclosed subsidary seconds with fine blued steel spade hands. There is a twin weight driven movement with maintaining power and plates with outset bottom knopped pillars to a deadbeat escapement and strike on a bell with an ebonised pendulum and wooden shaft. A chance to own a wonderful and rare clock. The clock will come with the movement cleaned and serviced with a setup option available. The height is 93 inches.
