Unusual Elephant Clock

Description

An unusual Mid 19th Century clock in the form of a clock mounted mounted on the back of an elephant. The case, made of brass, depicts an Indian elephant in ceremonial dress carrying an oriental style pierced basket containing a clock,which stands on a rouge marble base. The casting is silver plated and high-lighted in brass. The clock has an enamel dial with a French 8 day movement with a cylinder platform.(France, c. 1870)

Current Condition

The case has slight wear to some of the silver plated areas, the dial has some very fine hairline marks around the 40 numeral. The movement has been serviced in our own workshops and is guaranteed for 12 months

26.00cm high 18.00cm wide 9.00cm deep (10.24 inches high 7.09 inches wide 3.54 inches deep )
