18th Cent Oak & Mahogany Longcase Clock

Description

A pretty small 18th cent longcase clock by James Viall of Walsingham, Norfolk. He is listed as working their from 1760 to 1787. The attractive oak case has mahogany cross banding and extensive mahogany veneer to the hood.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart brass dial with gilt spandrels and silvered chapter ring. It also has a seconds dial and date aperture (not working).

The case is in good un-restored condition and the movement is in good working order and keeping good time.

The maximum dimensions are:

211cm (83") high

47.5cm (18.75") wide

24cm (9.5") deep
