Georgian Scottish Mahogany 8 Day Longcase Clock

Description

Good late 18th century Georgian Scottish mahogany 8 day longcase clock by GEORGE BROWN of EDINBURGH.

Good clean original condition. The well figured mahogany case with boxwood line inlay, cross banding to base and quarter reeded columns, standing on small bracket feet. The hood with matching reeded columns and satinwood fretted decoration.

The good 8 day movement with engraved silvered dial with second hand and date dials within. The movement has been fully serviced and is in perfect working order including the date. Comes with original brass bob pendulum and original cast weights.

There is an old large retailer label pinned to the inner door with full provenence of the maker. The label from Archibald Stewart & Co. of Glasgow who were cabinetmakers, upholsterers and ship furnishers.

The case is in very good original conditiion, there is a good old repair to the left corner of the dial which is hardly noticeable.

SIZES; 87 1/2" tall overall. 19" wide by 9 1/2" depth. 13" movement.
