Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art has dated this piece to the 1890s.
I originally though the case was made of walnut due in part to the colour and quality of the tight carvings , however i have shown it to a furniture dealer friend who assures me it is pollard or burr oak so i shall bow to his opinion .

The double chain driven fusee movement is enclosed inside an engraved backplate that simply reads Webster Queen Victoria St London and is numbered 16090 , the silvered dial is however signed as Webster 91 Gracechurch street London , maybe this was their retail outlet ?
This magnificent imposing heavy clock is in good working order and in superb condition , it is complete with its very heavy adjustable and locking pendulem plus key.
Although sold in working order we are not clock experts and would therefore recomend a service and setting up by a clock dealer or enthusiast before use as an accurate timepiece.
