Stunning Red Tortoiseshell and Brass Inlaid Boulle Work Mantel Clock

Description

A stunning large waisted French mantel clock in the Louis XV style. It has a red tortoiseshell veneered case inlaid with brass, applied ormolu decoration, a glazed pendulum window and pierced brass side grills . The convex glass has an embossed dial with enamel numeral plaques, The square plate 8 day movement strikes the hours and halves on a gong. (France, c. 1860)
