Grand Soneree Wallclock. "Blind Mans Clock"

Description

Part of a private collection of clocks we have just purchased in its entirity.

An outstanding example of these rare and much sought after triple-weight Vienna wallclocks.

Often referred to as a "blind man's clock" since it is possible to tell the time without seeing the clock.

The latch-plate movement is fitted with deadbeat escapement and Strike/Silent facility.

It srikes the quarters on rods, giving a very distinct, clear tone.

It has just been fully serviced by our BHI registered staff.

It has beautifully embossed art-deco style weights and pendulum, the pendulum being a mirror image of the centre of the clock dial.

Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
