19th Cent Oak 8 Day Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

A pretty little 8 day longcase clock in need of some restoration. It is by George Churchill of Downton, Wiltshire. The mahogany cross banded oak case needs a small amount of tidying and a polish.

The 8 day movement is complete and runs ok. It is nice and clean and strikes the hours on a gong. The dial has an extra winding hole between 3 and 4 o'clock which I think was for some subsidiary chiming movement that was retro fitted at some time in the clocks life. This has now been removed and does not seem to have effected the original movement in any way I can see. Most of the hour hand is missing but it comes with a pair of replacement hands.

It is complete with two weights and pendulum.

The maximum dimensions are:

206cm(81") high

48cm(19") wide

23cm(9") deep

UK and International Shipping arranged.

Declaration

Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
