French Ormolu Mantel Clock

19th century
Description

A good, small sized French gilt ormolu mantel clock. It is mounted by a pair of courting birds, musical instruments and Roman armour. The case has inset ceramic panels with hand painted floral decoration. The convex enamel dial is signed by the original retailer, "Gasnier A Paris". It has an 8 day bell striking, pendulum movement, made by Japy Frere, and is stamped 25 12-4 Gasnier A Paris. (France, c. 1870)

22.00cm wide 29.00cm high 12.00cm deep (8.66 inches wide 11.42 inches high 4.72 inches deep)

Current Condition

The case retains its original gilding, the porcelain panels are perfect. The movement is to serviced and guaranteed for 12 months.
