Cherub of Music
~ French - Circa 1880 ~
~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
A beautiful original antique white marble and gilt metal boudoir clock. It features a charming figure of a cherub in the clouds holding a pair of maracas. Around the clock are musical trophies, including bag pipes, a horn and a tambourine.

The dial is enamel on copper and is complete with original blued steel Breguet hands and convex glass.
The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. The backplate has the mark of the Paris clockmaker / retailer W.B.K et Fils. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is good with wear to the gilding, we have polished the case to a bright finish. The white marble is generally in good condition, there are some nibbles to the edges, a chip to the front right hand side of the base and some staining / discolouration in places. Dial is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. This is a stunning clock that displays very nicely as you can see in the pictures below.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employee two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
