Rene Lalique Opalescent Campanules Bowl C1932

1920 - 1940
For Sale by Bradley Gent
Description

Rene Lalique opalescent Campanules bowl

Ingeniously moulded with alternating smooth opalescent and textured clear campanules flower heads in a up and down layout.

The bowl has a very nice strength of opalescence and is in good condition with no damage.

There are a few very minor surface scratches which can only been seen on close inspection. These are not at all off putting or intrusive

During the Art Deco period, French glassmakers utilised heat-treating techniques with specific mineral additions to create opalescent glass, characterised by translucent hues that shift colour depending on light exposure.

Molten glass containing fluorides or phosphates was pressed into intricate metal moulds and unevenly cooled, producing a translucent, milky sheen across raised relief surfaces.

Authentic pieces typically feature moulded or wheel-cut signatures such as R. LALIQUE FRANCE, crisp detail from original moulds, heavy glass weight, and hand-finished hand-polished surfaces.

Position the piece on a polished dining table or sideboard where natural illumination can penetrate the glass, highlighting its translucent quality and sculpted surface relief.

Hand wash gentle with lukewarm water and mild liquid detergent, avoiding abrasive pads, harsh chemical cleaners, or dishwashers, and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
