Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian Cornish dresser exhibits a traditional two-piece form in stripped pine with a warm honey brown colour and visible grain. The upper section contains a glazed display cabinet enclosed by two doors, accompanied by wooden shelves and turned pilasters flanking the glass panels. Below sits a surface platform, two drawers fitted with brass drop handles and keyholes, and a lower base with twin panelled cupboard doors and small wooden knobs. Cornice moulding tops the structure, and turned decorative details accent the vertical side columns. Practical for kitchen storage or as a bookcase in a home setting, the piece stands ready for placement in a dining room, living area, or hallway. The dimensions are not given, but the large scale suits the display of tableware, books, or decorative items behind the glass and within the lower cupboards.

FAQs

A Cornish pine dresser is a traditional British country storage cabinet featuring a two-part construction, typically consisting of an upper glazed display top for tableware and a solid lower cupboard base with drawers.

Victorian pine dressers were crafted from slow-grown European redwood or Scots pine, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer joints, tongue-and-groove backboards, and hand-turned wooden pilasters or spindles.

Authentic nineteenth-century pine dressers feature hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular drawer dovetails, original brass or wooden knobs, and subtle paint remnants in hard-to-reach recesses from original historic finishes.

Position the piece in a kitchen or dining area as a focal storage unit, pairing the warm natural wood tones with contemporary ceramics, neutral walls, and stone floor tiles.

Maintain the timber finish by dusting with a soft dry cloth and applying clear beeswax paste to nourish the wood while avoiding placement near direct heat sources.
