Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pair of nineteenth-century Dutch Delft lidded vases in tin-glazed earthenware stand on an old dark wooden surface against a pale blue wall. The ceramic pieces display a blue and white palette with cobalt floral decoration, chinoiserie landscapes on fluted baluster bodies, and unusual sculpted cat finials atop the domed lids. Each octagonal vessel features detailed panels showing oriental scenes and botanical motifs. Measuring 35 cm by 18 cm by 18 cm including the lids, these decorative items suit display on a mantelpiece within an English country house setting. They bring classical ceramic craftsmanship to a living room, study, or hallway interior.

FAQs

Dutch Delftware refers to tin-glazed earthenware produced in and around Delft in the Netherlands from the late 16th century onwards, heavily inspired by imported East Asian porcelain.

Delftware is crafted from clay formed into shape and coated with an opaque white tin glaze, which is hand-painted with cobalt oxide decoration before undergoing a high-temperature kiln firing.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit a softer earthenware ceramic body under a tin glaze, showing characteristic glaze crawling, slight pinholes, or minor edge chipping alongside period maker marks or initials painted on the base.

A pair of lidded Delft vases can be displayed symmetrically on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or console table to introduce classical pattern, rich cobalt contrast, and historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Clean tin-glazed earthenware gently using a soft dust cloth or a slightly damp cloth with warm water, avoiding prolonged submersion, abrasive pads, or chemical agents that could damage the glaze.
