It suits placement in a dining room, kitchen, or living space as a traditional sideboard, serving station, or general storage cabinet.

FAQs

A French provincial buffet is a traditional storage cabinet originating from rural regions of France during the 17th and 18th centuries, designed primarily for dining spaces to store linens, tableware, and serving equipment.

Craftsmen primarily utilised regional hardwoods such as chestnut, oak, and walnut, constructed using hand-planed timber, peg joints, and hand-forged iron hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved decorative panels, hand-cut mortise-and-tenon joinery, original iron fitments, and uneven wear patterns consistent with centuries of functional use.

A French provincial buffet serves as a grounded focal point in a modern dining room, hallway, or living area, offering tactile contrast against clean architectural lines and contemporary wall paint colours.

Clean surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish annually to nourish the timber, keeping the item clear of direct heat sources and high humidity.
